While domain purchases are final and non-refundable, you can choose to cancel future renewals so your domain expires at the end of its current term.
Cancelling a domain:
- Prevents future renewals
- Resets your site back to its original vanity domain
- Triggers expiration in our domain partner’s system
- Disconnects your email (if you have mail service configured)
How to Cancel a Domain #
- Log in to your StellarSites account
- Navigate to Sites, then select your site
- Go to Domains
- Click the View Subscription button
- Toggle on/off the Auto Renew radio button
What Happens When Auto-Renewal is Turned Off #
- After your custom domain expires
Your site will only return to its original vanity domain once the custom domain subscription fully expires. Until then, the custom domain will remain connected. - The domain will expire at the end of its current billing cycle
There are no refunds for unused time. - You can still manage DNS until expiration
After expiration, DNS stops functioning. Your email stops working (if you have mail service configured)
Why You Cannot Cancel Immediately
Domain registrars do not allow immediate cancellation or refunds. This is standard across all domain providers.
