After you purchase a domain through StellarSites, it will be automatically mapped to your site as part of the registration process. In most cases, you won’t need to perform any manual steps.
However, this article explains:
- How automatic domain mapping works
- What to expect during DNS setup
- How to check whether your domain is fully connected
- What to do if the mapping doesn’t complete correctly
How Automatic Domain Mapping Works #
When you complete the domain purchase:
- StellarSites confirms the domain is available
- The system registers your domain with our partner
- We automatically point the domain to your site
- Domains are linked to the individual domain subscription, not your StellarSites plan.
DNS Configuration Mode (Automatic)
StellarSites uses a secure, automated DNS configuration mode managed through our partner. This eliminates the need for you to manually update the A and CNAME records of your primary domain.
How to Confirm Your Domain Is Mapped #
- Log in to your StellarSites account
- Navigate to Sites and select your site
- Go to the Domains tab
- Look for the domain under “Active Domain” or “Primary Domain”
- Check the registration status
- Once the status is Complete, your domain is mapped to your site
Domain Propagation Time #
Even after mapping is complete, your domain may take time to fully resolve on the internet.
- Typical propagation: 5 minutes–2 hours
- Maximum possible: 24–48 hours
This is normal and depends on global DNS caching.
What If My Domain Is Not Mapping Correctly? #
Common causes:
- Domain still in “Registering” state
- DNS propagation delay
- Domain registration failed (rare)
What to do:
- Refresh your dashboard
- Wait 30–60 minutes
- If your domain shows “Failed,” follow the instructions in the troubleshooting article
- If it is “Complete” but not loading, contact the support team
